Zara Ward spoke with Sky News Radio regarding the Law Commission review report recommendations for intimate image abuse in England and Wales.
The report was made public on 7th July 2022 and is accessed here.
Zara spoke on the ways the law currently leaves victims unsupported and allows for too many loopholes resulting in a low conviction rate for image-based crimes. With this current report, it's important to outline the impact this will have on future victims but also the limitations of it too such as: how secondary sharing is not deemed a criminal offence but causes ongoing trauma to many victims, the problem with not broadening the term "intimate" to include culturally sensitive imagery and the issues with intimate image retention.
